In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of Mother-Baby Nurses include(but are not limited to):Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients' (both mother and infant) care plansMaintains a comfortable, safe and clean environment for mother and infantAssists mother with her hygienic needsChecks mother for any post partum bleedingExamines mother's fundusInspects c-section incision (if applicable)Assesses mother's pain, if anyPerforms emotional status checks on mother, recognizing symptoms such as those related to post partum depressionMonitors bonding between mother and infantTakes mother's and infant's vital signsMeasures input/output of mother and infantMonitors mother and infant and reports adverse reactions to any treatments or medications being givenProvides mother with breast-feeding tipsEducates mother on sore nipple managementTeaches mother bathing tips for infantInstructs mother on diaper changingWeighs infantPerforms heel sticks for bg's of infantKeeps track of all feeds and diapersBathes infantInvolves and educates family/significant others in implementing best practices for mother and infant careSamba Care Job ID #29355090.
